Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people think about worries that they plainly don't know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks

Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people think about worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I'll definitely be back.

Actually I wouldn't swap Microsoft Word for OpenOffice I would swap it for LibreOffice which is a fork from OpenOffice. Why was this fork created? Because a Oracle Corp took over Sun Microsystems the distributor of OpenOffice.org

"A number of OpenOffice developers had formed The Document Foundation and had received backing by Google, Novell, Red Hat, and Canonical, as well as some others, but were unable to get Oracle to donate the brand OpenOffice.org, causing a fork in the development of OpenOffice with the foundation now developing and promoting LibreOffice. Oracle has expressed no interest in sponsoring the new project and has asked the OpenOffice developers that have started the project to resign from the company due to "conflicts of interest." On November 1, 2010, 33 of the OpenOffice developers gave their letters of resignation.[82]"

The reason for the split off? Because Oracle has taken over other Open Source projects and closed them for example Solaris (which is no longer Open since Oracle took it over) was also acquired by Sun

"Discontinuation of OpenSolaris

On August 13, 2010, an internal Oracle memo leaked to the Internet cited plans for ending the OpenSolaris operating system project and community...However a fork of OpenSolaris development now continues as a project called Illumos, started by former OpenSolaris developer Garrett D'Amore."

They also have MySQL and...

Discontinuation of OpenSSO

As Oracle completed their acquisition of Sun Microsystems in February 2010, they announced that OpenSSO would no longer be their strategic product[79]. Shortly after, OpenSSO was forked to OpenAM.[79] and will continue to be developed and supported by ForgeRock.

Thats why there is now LibreOffice :D

Gimpshop doesn't work on OSX 10.6. There are several shortcomings with OpenOffice, particularly in the Find and Replace feature. The graphic positioning isn't good when going back and forth between word and OpenOffice.

The UI on GIMP is AWFUL. AWFUL, absolutely AWFUL. Also; OpenOffice has a specialized format that, while necessary, makes life hell if you aren't constantly conscious about what you are saving a file as. It also has mildly confusing menus when you want to do particular activities, and the UI isn't very interesting in general.

One little problem. Gimpshop does not work with Mac OSX. I have installed it repeatedly on OSX 10.5, 10.6.1 and 10.6.2. With each of them, it seem to install correctly, but will not run at all. When opening it, it instantly closes. Regular Gimp works fine. So get used to the interface, just as you did to the one in Photoshop.

What a great list, but I personally tend to favour SSuite Office’s free office suites. Their software also don’t need to run on Java or .NET, like so many open source office suites, so it makes their software very small and efficient.
